Replit is getting ready to buy companies. The AI app builder, last valued at up to $9B, is hiring its first-ever Head of Corporate Development to source “acqui-hire, tuck-in and large-scale acquisition opportunities” across AI, developer tools, and software infrastructure. The posting comes on the heels of Replit’s second-ever acquisition. In late September, it bought Atta , an AI business analysis startup founded in 2024. Atta’s co-founders joined Replit, and its charting feature went live inside Replit chat the day the deal was announced. Its first acquisition — OpenInt in September 2025 — followed a similar playbook, with the tiny startup’s developer tooling shipping inside Replit (as its Connectors feature) the same day. Based on the Atta and OpenInt deals, Replit seeks out small, young teams whose products can go live inside Replit quickly. The question is where it looks next. Where Replit would buy Winning enterprise trust. Replit sells to large companies through Microsoft Azure, Databricks, and enterprise contracts worth up to $200K. Those buyers will want proof the platform is secure, especially after a 2025 incident in which Replit’s AI agent deleted a user’s production database and generated false logs to conceal it. Owning more of its AI stack. Replit’s agent runs on Anthropic and OpenAI models, and CEO Amjad Masad has warned that model providers can tune their models to favor their own coding tools. Replit launched its own model routing in August. Buying a team that builds coding models would take that further. Moving beyond code. Atta brought data analysis into Replit chat, and Replit now markets design and slides products to knowledge workers. It’s also hiring engineers to build spreadsheets, dashboards, and visual editors. 5 companies Replit should buy HoundDog.ai scans code for privacy risks, such as personal data leaking into logs. Why HoundDog.ai: It would give Replit an enterprise privacy feature it owns, not one it rents from a partner. HoundDog.ai’s checks have run inside Replit’s app builder since November 2025, so it could ship on day one. Why now: It hasn’t raised since its $3.1M seed in 2024, which Masad invested in. Similar companies have typically raised again by this point. A startup that’s overdue for funding is more likely to consider a sale, and Masad’s personal investment gives Replit a direct line in. Relace trains small models that each handle one step of AI code generation. Why Relace: It would give Replit its own coding models. Masad has argued specialized models will beat one all-purpose model, and Relace’s models would make Replit’s agent less dependent on Anthropic and OpenAI, whose own coding tools compete with Replit. Why now: It raised a $23M Series A from Andreessen Horowitz in October 2025 and is now in the window when similar companies raise again. A new round would raise the price, so Replit’s cheapest chance to buy is before that. Relace’s funding window in CB Insights. Symbiotic Security enforces security rules before AI assistants write code and fixes vulnerabilities afterward. Why Symbiotic Security: Replit buys this kind of security checking from Semgrep, a much larger vendor. Owning it would let Replit show enterprise buyers security built into the product. Why now: It has raised $13M, small enough for a tuck-in. Its funding window opens in November, so an offer now would compete with its next round, not follow it. Quadratic makes an AI spreadsheet that lets users analyze data with Python, SQL, and JavaScript. Why Quadratic: Replit is hiring engineers to build spreadsheets. Buying Quadratic would get it a working product sooner, the same shortcut it took with Atta. Why now: It’s in its funding window now, with $16M raised. Masad invested in its $5.6M seed in 2024, so Replit already has a relationship there. Corridor secures code as AI writes it, the same problem Symbiotic works on. Corridor is more of a long shot given its price. Why Corridor: It’s the bigger security bet, a more mature product that matches the “large-scale” deals named in the job posting. Why it’s a long shot: Its $25M Series A in March valued it at $200M, well above tuck-in size. A strategic investor, Datadog, already has a stake, and the CEO of Lovable, a Replit competitor, is an angel investor. How we built this We used the CB Insights MCP to pull Replit’s acquisitions, business relationships, investments, hiring insights, and news, plus its CEO’s angel investments. We reviewed all 84 of Replit’s business relationships and Masad’s angel portfolio for candidates. We then mapped Replit’s priorities to CB Insights’ 1,700+ markets, including AI code security, coding AI agents, and AI agent observability, screened private, VC-backed startups that have raised under $50M, and ranked them by Mosaic score.
