Microsoft thinks its new Copilot 'super app' will be as influential as Office

Microsoft has officially launched a redesigned Copilot app combining 3 capabilities into a single interface: Home (chat and collaboration), Code (app and automation building powered by GitHub Copilot technology), and Autopilot (a persistent AI agent, rebranded from Scout, that operates within enterprise environments with its own identity, memory, and compute). The company is shifting to usage-based billing for agentic and advanced features, while keeping standard Copilot Chat bundled in existing Microsoft 365 licenses. Home and Code tabs roll out to early access users in coming weeks, with Autopilot entering private preview later this month. Microsoft is positioning Copilot as the defining productivity platform for the AI era, directly comparing its intended impact to that of Office.
