Introducing Dots

OpenAI has launched Dots, a new category of always-on AI agents powered by GPT-6 Astra, designed to operate autonomously on behalf of individual users and enterprise organizations. Each Dot runs on its own cloud computer, connects to over 4,000 apps via a plugin ecosystem, and integrates with workplace tools including Slack, Teams, and ChatGPT across desktop, web, and mobile. Enterprise-grade 'specialist dots' can be provisioned with dedicated credentials, system-of-record integrations, and role-specific responsibilities—early pilots inside OpenAI have covered procurement, invoice processing, email marketing, customer support, and commercial contracting. Dots include built-in safeguards such as read-only proactive research, auto-review for consequential actions, and customizable approval workflows; Business, Enterprise, and Edu workspace content is not used to train models by default. Dots are rolling out now to Pro and Business Premium users, with Enterprise beta access gated by workspace admin enablement, and OpenAI is inviting organizations to pilot specialist dots for defined business workflows.
