UK-based AI infrastructure company Nscale reportedly engaged in talks to raise as much as $3.5 billion in financing ahead of a planned IPO. Bloomberg reported Nscale is seeking to sell up to $1.5 billion of convertible notes to a group of investors and may also secure around $2 billion in financing from Nvidia. The news site separately reported the IPO itself could raise a further $3 billion. Third Point Management was tipped to lead the convertible note investment, with Goldman Sachs working on the fundraising. Nscale is offering the notes at the equivalent of the IPO price less a double-digit percentage discount which narrows as the valuation rises up to a cap of $30 billion. After this point, the price is expected to remain steady. The fundraising talks follow rapid growth for Nscale which was founded in 2024 by Josh Payne and Nathan Townsend as a spin-out of crypto-mining infrastructure company Arkon Energy. It raised $1.1 billion in September 2025 and closed a $2 billion Series C funding round in March which valued it at $14.6 billion . Nscale CEO Josh Payne has described it as leading “the largest infrastructure buildout in human history”. Wheeler dealer The company expanded a GPU supply deal with Microsoft in October 2025 , building on a $6.2 billion deal with the US software giant covering an Nscale campus in Norway which was originally linked with OpenAI’s Stargate project . Nscale solely manages the site following a consolidation of a joint venture with Aker. BT Group agreed a deal in April involving 14MW of sovereign AI data centre capacity.
